![]() | This beautiful example of an early Welte orchestrion, still in its original spectacular location, can be enjoyed to this day by visitors to the Frick Art & Historical Center (http://frickart.org/home/), Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Originally escapement powered (i.e., by a large weight suspended on a pulley and cable arrangement at the backside of the instrument), it was converted to electric operation in 1904 by Emil Welte. |
