The later orchestrion regulator is much simplified, with a large regulator pneumatic and one loud expression pneumatic that is controlled by the loud and soft perforations in the music roll. In this system the spring may be adjusted to produce the desired soft playing level without interference from the redundant soft pneumatic of the earlier system.
